Postnatal Mum & Baby Yoga

The aim of our Mum & Baby Yoga course is to provide a safe and positive environment for Mums to relax, connect, communicate and move; for Baby we offer safe and enjoyable movements enhancing bonding process.

The class is baby-led, feeding, crying, comforting is always welcome! The first part of the class is about Mum - to regain strength and maintain good posture; toning abdominal muscles and focusing on pelvic floor health, and of course relaxation.

Also, being physically active helps to cope with the everyday role of being a new Mum, it energises mentally. The second part of the class is about Baby - gentle movements with Mum, soft-touch, singing to Baby encouraging language and listening secure bonding.

The class also provides the opportunity of one to one quality time with Mum while socialising. Small group, places are limited. Expect fun, laughter, singing and the release of happy hormones.

The course is suitable from doctor's check-up 6-10 weeks after delivery, up to the age baby starts crawling (7-10 months).

There are many different styles of yoga, and as with any kind of exercise you need to start with basics. Breathing is the key element of yoga before any physical practice. Breathing consciously isn't easy for some of us. Our mind tends to wonder off towards - as we think, more important - everyday tasks, things we need to get done. The mind is constantly racing.

Asanas are the physical poses, each with its own benefits. During practice you will combine the asanas with breathing, always at a different pace, depending on the type of class you are attending. As you see yoga challenges both the mind and the body. Regular practice will stretch & strengthen, tone your muscles, build stamina and good posture, improve digestion, circulation, reduces fatigue and anxiety, help relieve stress, improve the flexibility of spine and sense of balance, aid better sleep and a calmer mind.

Appropriate alignment and controlled breathing will help you to get the full benefits of yoga. Ease into the poses and find what suits your body could be challenging at first. Be patient & don't give up! Listen to your body, respect it and accept its limitations.

Take each class at your own pace, it's your practice, modify if needed and most importantly enjoy it. We are here to work with you and guide you through your yoga journey. Yoga is a lifelong journey and a life-changing experience. It's not just exercise of the body but the mind.

Do as best as you can! It's not about being perfect more so about to accept your imperfections.
If you are new to yoga we do recommend Starters' yoga first, you can also try slow flow and gentle Hatha.
