During the second trimester, most women feel energised and find asanas strengthening, energising and helpful to improve posture & stamina. Visualisation, relaxation and simple breath work are still a valuable part of their practice to conserve energy and develop a bond with the growing baby.
During the third trimester, the pace is gentle with the emphasis on preparing the body-mind-soul for birth. As every pregnancy is different the yoga practice can be tailored for individual needs.
Regular practice of relaxation, breathwork, meditation and gentle postures support the women through all stages of pregnancy. It will result in confidence, strength, stamina and skills to cope with labour.

There are many different styles of yoga, and as with any kind of exercise you need to start with basics. Breathing is the key element of yoga before any physical practice. Breathing consciously isn't easy for some of us. Our mind tends to wonder off towards - as we think, more important - everyday tasks, things we need to get done. The mind is constantly racing.
Asanas are the physical poses, each with its own benefits. During practice you will combine the asanas with breathing, always at a different pace, depending on the type of class you are attending. As you see yoga challenges both the mind and the body. Regular practice will stretch & strengthen, tone your muscles, build stamina and good posture, improve digestion, circulation, reduces fatigue and anxiety, help relieve stress, improve the flexibility of spine and sense of balance, aid better sleep and a calmer mind.
Appropriate alignment and controlled breathing will help you to get the full benefits of yoga. Ease into the poses and find what suits your body could be challenging at first. Be patient & don't give up! Listen to your body, respect it and accept its limitations.
